April 14th @ Gallery 263 w/ Mark Lipman & The Whetherman

The first time I stepped into Gallery 263 I could tell it was a special room. It wasn't the art on the walls or the fact that the cozy little room on the corner of Pearl St. just happens to sound wonderful when filled with music - the feeling I got was from the overwhelming love and support for the arts I felt at this place. Combine that with a night of music from Nate Taylor and Kaiti Jones and it'll make a room stand out in memory.

About a week after that night, my friend the Whetherman told me he would be passing through town on tour and may have a free night. So, I got to work right away to put together another night of music with artists I love in this magic room and now that night is right around the corner!

Join myself, the Whetherman and Mark Lipman for a night of acoustic performances on April 14th @ 7pm. There is a suggested donation of $10 @ the door and refreshments will be provided at no cost.

Hallo Duetschland!

It feels great to be back in Germany. It's been about two years since I last came to tour with Songs & Whispers. Two long years apart from the beautiful country side, delicious beer and most importantly the warm and inviting people that make up this country.

I arrived a week early to visit with a friend of mine in Wilhelmshaven and played a great gig in Sande. Wolfgang Giese is one of the biggest music enthusiasts I know. He owns 11,000 CDs and his knowledge is quite expansive. He helped me book this gig and wrote a great review for Rock Times you can find here:

Over the next week I did some traveling through Köln and finally made my way to Bremen where I met my tour partner, Matt Boylan-Smith. We began our you at Pixelpark on 03.09 in Hamburg. We had a great time at this small office gig and spent the night exploring the city.

Over the weekend we had a couple more gigs including a wild time at Janja's Musikbar in Cuxhaven. The crowd was rowdy and very supportive. We had a great time and made some new friends. It was so hard to stop playing as the crowd cheered us on after what must have been our 5th encore. Thank you Cuxhaven for being so wonderful!

German Tour Dates Released

In less than a week I'll be boarding a plane and headed to the northern coast of Germany for a month-long run of concerts throughout the region with my friends at Songs & Whispers. I haven't been in Germany since 2013 and am very excited to see some old friends and meet some new ones. Throughout my last trip I shared many special experiences with musicians, fans and strangers on the streets. I have a strong feeling that this trip will be even better.

Throughout most of the dates, I will be joined by the wonderful Australian singer/songwriter, Matt Boylan-Smith and for a couple of nights the UK's Peter Crawford will be joining us. As an added bonus, I'll be joined by percussionist, Julian Claus, for a gig or two. On my last run, Julian joined me on the stage and in the studio for a live recording of "Back Roads."

I'll be doing my best to capture as much of this tour via photos, videos and blog posts. Be sure to follow me here, on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-date posts.

Live Video: Molotovs & Medicine @ T.T. the Bear's

After a bit of a wait it is finally here! The second installment of live footage from the Say Hello! Release Party at T.T. The Bear's in Cambridge, MA. Again, thanks to the amazing film crew - Emily Graham-Handley, Brian Daly, Enver Perez, Harrison Searle and Joshua Quinlan. These guys kicked ass through and through.

As though it needs to be said - many heartfelt thank you's to the amazing band that poured their souls into that night - David Marvuglio, Alex Giorgetti, Andrew Nault and Jo Cleary. These players are full of passion and love and it was my pleasure to share not only the stage, but rehearsals and any prep meetings with them. I can't say enough about how much joy came from this night! See for yourself...

Say Hello! Added to Pandora Library

Spring is finally here for New England and with it comes a lot of great news. To start, this week I received a great email from Pandora alerting me that my release, Say Hello!, has been added to their library! That means you can now make your own "Nico Rivers" Pandora station. Also, you may hear some of the EP on your regular stations. To check out the Nico Rivers station, click here!

On top of that, I've got a lot of great gigs coming up this month. I'll be all over MA with stops in Lowell, Marshfield, Plymouth and Norwell. This coming Wednesday night, I have the pleasure of opening for the Aldous Collins Band at their Gallactic Wednesday Residency at Tinker's Son in Norwell - great bar, great band and awesome people. Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked. I hope to see you all out there.

P.S. If you missed my interview and live performance on WERS 88.9FM a couple weeks ago, you can check it out right here!

WERS 88.9FM Live Music Week

Twice a year, WERS 88.9FM hosts what is known as Live Music Week. The station hosts live performances throughout the year, but during these weeks they load up their broadcast with live performances and this spring I have been lucky enough to join the roster! This is a great honor - especially since I spent much of my time as an Emerson College student in the 88.9FM studios recording & mixing others artists as they came through the station to perform.

The session is scheduled to air on April 19th, 2015 at 6pm. Tune in to 88.9FM or to listen in as I will be performing a few songs and be interviewed by one of the on-air hosts. Also, take a minute to visit and find out how you can support a radio station that has become a cornerstone of the local music scene here in Boston.
